Solo Cartography with ele?
I wonder if there is someone that hade succesfully been doing cartography with ele on your own? With like E/A Shadow Form. I would like to know some tips if its possible, before I try it out and it'll be a huge waste of time.
I'm talking about all continents of course, not a certain.
Thanks in advance.

I did cantha and elona with my E/A Elementalist. Just shadow form, a few running spells, nothing crazy. I'm too lazy to finish Tyria but it's definitely doable too, probably a little harder since there's less open spaces.

I made it 10 months ago, 1 month before release of textmode... no big deals...
Tyria is the worst because the huge size...
Cantha you need to make a trick in nebo terrace to get 0.4, its help a lot
Elona is easy, bigger cantha but no deals with areas you cant enter
But... i prefer if fight, its slow but you can make a better "hugh the wall efect"

Yeah if you're planning on vanquishing that's the easiest way to do it. If not, take a full party. Usually the heroes/hench take a lot of the heat so you can go farther.

Why would you want to solo it anyway? Surely its quicker and easier with h/h....

Then go back and hug the wall in normal with H/H. Running is probably going to be more trouble than you'll want.

Agreed about going in with h/h. It may very well be best to pick up the cheapest builds you can find and run around there on normal. I tried running areas with my warrior solo, but it was more a pain in the ass than I had assumed.
When I got my first carto title, I would exchange "Charge" with my war hero.

Running doesn't always work. There will be times you see things change, but the server doesn't. By the time the server is actually recording the info, you may be past the spot. It happened to me a few times, where I was running and saw the fog change (enough to warrant at least 0.2% worth) and saw no change in the mapping percentage. When I went back later, and didn't run, I saw the fog reclear, and this time the server was in sync and it recorded.
Running and mapping don't mix well, take hero+hench and go slow to make sure you actually get it.

Some places you can run, but some places it's better to just kill your way through with H/H. It all depends on the enemies in the area and how densely packed they are. Good/easy places to run are the lower level areas and to get that one speck you barely missed the first time through (unless there are some exceptionally bad mobs on the path). Bad places to run are areas you need to do a complete wall-hug on, it just isn't worth it because in the end you'll get trapped against the wall somewhere.

Let's see, what can this Legendary Cartographer ele tell you...
Tyria - wallcrawled all areas before there were titles. (Liked the game too much )
Cantha - did a lot of spot-checking, ALT+TAB style, but always henched the zones instead of running. Cantha is notorious for not clearing spots unless you walk along the wall very slowly and turn just right in the precise location... which kind of rules out running, since you're usually too busy avoiding aggro and death
Elona - mapped as I vanquished. When Legendary Vanquisher still left me short on cartography and ALT+TAB yielded very little, I gave in and used Texmod. Depending on the spot, I either hero/henched my way back or ran there with Storm Djinn's Haste (+Deadly Paradox/Shadow Form if there were mobs in the way). The only place I really had to run myself rather than carefully wallcrawl with the heroes was inside Remains of Sahlahja, where hero/henching is impossible by design.
I hope this helps.

First of all, I don't understand why one would solo for cartography in the first place.
I'd consider a full group of hero/hench to be perfectly fine. Exploring maps don't give drops... unless you count the Nightfall "hidden treasures"...

Agree, don't see the point in soloing it.
Some places you need to hug the wall repeatedly to get the last bit and I don't see how you would survive that.

cartography is doable with all professions, also u dont get any bonus for doing it solo, so why bother...?
it also combines well with vanquishing.
however if u insist on doing it solo than I think you can do most(if not all) with E/A invinci shadowform, heck even an obsi flesh terra tank...

Yes, because 50% decrease in movement> 25-35% speed boost. SF is clearly the winner of the two because of the fact its not ridiculously slow. But either way, textmod ftw if you need to find those last few spots
